How WAREHOUSE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM has evolved post pandemic

WAREHOUSE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

2020 was a year when logistics was hit majorly due to the pandemic, and there was a massive setback due to remote operations and halt on the movement of people or goods.

It was also the year when we as a generation realized that digital is the key to reimaging the logistics industry and work on a connected ecosystem, whether it is a connected vehicle, connected warehouse, or connected inventories.

There are many processes in the Logistics industry which need to be automated. According to a study, the cost of carrying inventory is about 27 per cent less in an automated environment. Happiest Minds Services integrates the next-gen technologies like IoT, hyper-automation, analytics to create a digital and connected logistics ecosystem, platforms, solutions and offering.

It has been projected that the Connected Warehouse logistics market will rise from USD 10.04 billion in 2016 to USD 41.30 million by 2021, at a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 32.7% between 2016 and 2021.

There are many small to mid-size processes which are still done manually in the warehouses.  Many are excel based, Access DB, Foxpro, Power Builder, emails etc. Customers are not able to automate these processes due to budget constraints as the cost of the custom solutions are very high. Our digitally enabled connected warehouse ensures better operations and productivity for our customers.

Connected Product helps connect the inventory through sensor technology and track and monitor the merchandise throughout the lifecycle and transit. e.g., Schindler’s elevators are no longer meant to carry passengers up and down, the company’s technology enables it to analyse and predict demand patterns, thereby reducing the waiting time by as much as 50%. We create smart and connected products to help customers enable Device Lifecycle Management, Edge Intelligence, Predictive Maintenance, Business Workflow (Replenishment) and Usage Insights/Analytics.

Connected Logistics and vehicle monitoring provides a secure IoT platform which can be expanded to connect all the fleet vehicles, trainers, sensors monitoring consignment and driver touch screen interface, thereby giving operational insights for fleet condition, consignment delivery efficiency.

We, at Happiest Minds, strive to find solutions to everyday problems in the logistics industry and build innovative platforms and applications.

For instance, most of the challenges like managing warehouse space effectively, communication, handling product damages, time management, redundant processes are addressed in WMS.

The one area where the WMS needs to focus on is helping the Field Service Technician. Leading Warehouse Management platform lack the capability of Field Service Technician. It’s the Product Gap. We identified this as an opportunity and proposed a repeatable solution which will allow the Field Service technician to create, receive and return the shipment using their Tablet. We suggested an approach which will automate the entire process as well as keep track of the product delivered to the site. We have integrated the app with the WMS to retrieve and update the data. Once this app is implemented, it can be an innovative solution for other customers.

We will continue to cater to our customers in logistics with passion and vigour and work with them to understand their challenges and grow together, making logistics smart and connected.
